COLOUR MATCH SERVICE (DESIGN PACKAGES)
What is colour matching?
Colour matching is creating the intended colour in the finished product from the represented colour in the supplied artwork. Colour matching is used by printers to improve consistency across different print machines, media and finishes.
Why Do Colours Change In Print?
You might think that a certain colour should be fixed, that it should always look the same no matter when and where it is printed. This simply isn’t the case.
In digital printing, the colour you see on screen and the colour you see in print will be different. Why? Because print uses CMYK colours (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) that allow you to adjust ink levels for each colour to produce the exact colours you want. Digital artwork uses RGB, which creates colours by mixing only red, green and blue. It's one of the reasons why colours are so much more vibrant in print than on your screen and why your screen colours aren't an accurate representation of the colour that will be printed from your artwork.
Factors such as temperature, humidity, lighting, media and machinery can all affect the look of a printed colour.
The colour match process
If you have a Pantone (PMS) colour, which is a specific colour selected from a Pantone book, it needs to be matched to the CMYK "colour space".
First, we will need your artwork file along with a physical print of the colour you want to match. This can be dropped of or sent to our office in Seven Hills NSW.
Then, our team will print out a colour swatch sheet. This swatch sheet will include varying values of CMYK, including the original values from your artwork file. Your swatch sheet will then be compared to the physical print, with the closest colour match being identified and supplied for approval.
Price is per colour per media.
